Angola: Fonte de tensões entre Portugal e a ONU (1961-1975)

Abstract

Apesar das tensões entre Portugal e a ONU começarem logo em 1955, altura em que Portugal adere à organização, nomeadamente no que se refere à política colonial portuguesa, as relações entre estes ainda se mantiveram em relativamente bons termos até 1961. Foi com o início da Guerra Colonial em Angola neste ano que as tensões entre Portugal e a ONU seriam agravadas, levando à sua rápida deterioração. Esta dissertação pretende analisar de que forma a Guerra Colonial em Angola influenciou a relação entre Portugal e a ONU, desde o seu início até à independência, em 1975.

Despite the tensions between Portugal and the UN beginning in 1955, precisely when Portugal joins the organization, namely the Portuguese colonial policy, the relations between both remained in relatively good terms until 1961. The beginning of the Colonial War in Angola in this year worsened the relations between Portugal and the UN, leading to its quick deterioration. This dissertation intends to analyze how the Colonial War in Angola influenced the relationship between Portugal and the UN, from its beginning until 1975, when this colony acquires its independence.
