AvEssO T: Centro de Artes e Ofícios Têxteis

Abstract

O Centro AvEssO T – Centro de Artes e Ofícios Têxteis é um centro artístico comunitário dedicado às artes e saberes têxteis: com várias valências, procura ser um espaço de troca de conhecimentos das mais variadas técnicas têxteis e também um espaço onde é incentivado um sentido artístico, criativo, de comunidade, intergeracional e intercultural. O Centro pretende ser um local de valorização das artes têxteis e dos saberes a elas associados – das mais tradicionais às expressões e artistas contemporâneos -, um espaço ponte entre o meio artístico, o artesanato e as práticas têxteis domésticas e de lazer. E assim, ser também um espaço de diálogo e conexão entre artistas, artesãos, praticantes e públicos. As artes e ofícios têxteis têm uma grande relevância na cultura de uma localidade e país, e Portugal não é exceção. Muitos artistas recorrem hoje também a têxteis e técnicas têxteis na sua expressão e prática. Além disso, os têxteis nunca deixaram o universo doméstico e do lazer. São das práticas artísticas e didáticas mais acessíveis e têm variados benefícios a elas associadas, da saúde mental à sustentabilidade.

AvEssO T Center – Textile Arts and Crafts Centre is a community arts centre dedicated to textile arts and know-how: with a variety of vacancies, it aims to be a space for sharing knowledge on the most varied textile techniques and a space where an artistic and creative sense is encouraged in an intergenerational and intercultural community environment. The Centre intends to be a place to value the textile arts and the related know-how – from the most traditional to contemporary expressions and artists -, a space bridging the arts sphere, the crafts and the domestic and leisure textile practices. And with that, to be a space for dialogue and connection between artists, artisans, makers, and the public. Textile arts and crafts are extremely relevant in the culture of a place and country, Portugal is no exception. Many artists today use textiles and textile techniques in their expression and work. Furthermore, textiles never left the domestic and leisure sphere. Textile crafts are some of the most accessible artistic and didactic practices and they have several benefits, from mental health to sustainability.
