A Porta do Aqueduto

Abstract

paisagem e memória, tomando o Aqueduto das Águas Livres como conector urbano no território de Lisboa. Partindo do reconhecimento da sua importância histórica e da sua presença enquanto estrutura de ligação entre colinas, procura-se compreender de que modo este património retorna a mediar a relação entre a cidade e o Parque Florestal de Monsanto. A proposta desenvolve-se a partir do ponto de inflexão do Aqueduto, na zona de Campolide, onde se propõe a reativação da antiga travessia pedonal sobre o Vale de Alcântara. Neste lugar, marcado pelo passado e pela matéria, o projeto assume a reconfiguração do espaço público, integrando um programa que reinterpreta a monumentalidade dos arcos e a topografia do terreno. Entre o artifício e a natureza, entre o vestígio e a construção, o Aqueduto é reafirmado como estrutura viva, uma ponte simbólica e física entre tempos e territórios, capaz de transformar o passado em continuidade e a memória em espaço habitável. O seguinte trabalho organiza-se em dois tomos, um primeiro de caráter teórico e coletivo, dedicado ao Parque Florestal Monsanto, e o segundo de caráter prático e individual, que desenvolve a temática apresentada.

This dissertation reflects on the relationship between architecture, landscape, and memory, taking the Aqueduct of Águas Livres as an urban connector in the Lisbon territory. Starting from the recognition of its historical importance and its presence as a connecting structure between hills, it seeks to understand how this heritage once again mediates the relationship between the city and the Monsanto Forest Park. The proposal develops from the turning point of the Aqueduct, in the Campolide area, where it is proposed to reactivate the old pedestrian crossing over the Alcântara Valley. In this place, marked by the past and by substance, the project takes on the reconfiguration of public space, integrating a program that reinterprets the monumentality of the arches and the topography of the terrain. Between artifice and nature, between vestige and construction, the Aqueduct is reaffirmed as a living structure, a symbolic and physical bridge between times and territories, capable of transforming the past into continuity and memory into habitable space. The following work is organized in two volumes, the first theoretical and collective in nature, dedicated to Monsanto Forest Park, and the second practical and individual in nature, which develops the theme presented.
